Communitas Awards announced that Moorings Park is a winner of the 2010 Communitas Award for Social Accountability in the category of Leadership in Community Service and Corporate Social Responsibility.
The Communitas Awards is an international effort to recognize exceptional businesses, organizations and individuals that are unselfishly giving of themselves and their resources. “We are honored and proud to receive the 2010 Communitas Award,” said Trish Biebricher, Vice President of Marketing and Communications at Moorings Park. “This award aligns with our mission to provide compassionate service to each person we serve. I believe it’s about people helping people for the benefit of our community.”
The judges found that Moorings Park clearly exhibits the spirit of communitas, a Latin word that means people coming together for the good of a community. Moorings Park joins other communitas winners recognized for specific programs involving volunteerism, philanthropy or ethical, sustainable business practices. Some organizations are also recognized as Leadership winners because of their excellence in multiple programs.
“Social accountability is a part of our core values, said Dan Lavender, President and CEO of Moorings Park. “We think it is important to find ways to give back to the community in which we live.” Communitas nominees were evaluated based on the extent and effectiveness of their program.
"By recognizing individuals, organizations and companies for their volunteerism and socially responsible business practices, we are hoping to not only bring attention to great programs, but are working with community minded leaders to make the spirit of communitas an essential element of every business," said Ed Dalheim, executive director of AMCP.
