City and county officials, current and future residents, and representatives of Moorings Park were on hand recently to celebrate the completion of Grande Place at Moorings Park at Grey Oaks. Grande Place constitutes Phase IV of construction at Moorings Park at Grey Oaks, which was the final phase of construction.
Remarks to the more than 200 guests were given by Steve Brinkert, Vice President of Resident Services for Moorings Park; Dr. John Little, Chairman of Moorings Park’s Board of Directors and Dan Lavendar, CEO and President of Moorings Park.
“You can’t swim for new horizons until you have the courage to lose sight of the shore,” Brickert said, quoting William Faulkner. “Our residents here at Moorings Park at Grey Oaks weren’t afraid to lose sight of the shore, and because of that, they are the beneficiaries of a new and exciting life.”
“Moorings Park at Grey Oaks rose like a Phoenix,” said Little who was involved in the project from its inception. “It’s absolutely beautiful. Every time I come through here I feel a great sense of pride.”
Lavender reminded the crowd that January 2013 was the date the board approved the project named Moorings Park at Grey Oaks. In April 2014, a ground breaking ceremony was held to mark the start of Phase I.
“Phase I was completed in October 2015 and Phase II in January 2016,” said Lavender. “Phase III was completed in March 2016 and now, one year later, we mark the completion of our fourth and final phase, which is two years ahead of our original schedule.”
Lavender continued, “Today may be the end of the 20-year-old-question regarding; What’s going to go in at the end of The Estuary? But, it’s just the beginning for us of fulfilling our commitment to help you, our residents, successfully age.”
Following remarks by officials, a ribbon cutting ceremony was conducted marking the official grand opening. Joining the three speakers behind the ribbon was Michael Darby, President and CEO of The Greater Naples Chamber of Commerce, and Fred Yanni and Dr. Robert Jones, both members of the Board of Directors.
