Boomers Have the Power to Influence How They Age – Perhaps Even More Than They Realize

Everyone knows that aging is a fact of life.  But while most people understand that diet and exercise impact their health, they still believe that how they age is ultimately based on factors largely out of their control.  But according to the American Psychological Association, “older adults have more control over their aging than they think.”

“Many people think the way we grow older is genetically determined,” says psychologist Manfred Diehl, PhD, director of the Adult Development and Aging Project at Colorado State University.

“That misconception is dangerous because it prevents many adults from taking action that could help them age in a more positive way.” The article goes on to point out that “new evidence also suggests that older adults’ cognitive losses, as well as physical problems such as osteoporosis, can be reduced, delayed or even reversed with early intervention.”

Moorings Park Leads the Way for Proactive Healthy Aging

As Naples premier Life Plan Community, Moorings Park has been at the forefront of healthy aging for over 40 years.  Offering cutting-edge health and wellness programs designed specifically for the boomer and senior population, residents in this luxury retirement community are given the tools they need to age actively and more joyfully.

On Thursday, March 17th at 11:30, Moorings Park will be holding a Lunch and Learn Event at its main campus off Goodlette-Frank Road in Naples. This RSVP-only event will be hosted by Senior Living Specialist and Moorings Park Communities’ Vice President Tom Mann, who will explain why Moorings Park is the perfect community for boomers and seniors who want to maximize their potential for successful aging while enjoying the comfort of luxury retirement.  Attendees will also be treated to lunch after the event.

Those interested in attending this limited seating Lunch and Learn discussion can RSVP by visiting Mooringspark.org/Events or by calling 239-232-3903.

“Moorings Park provides highly personalized, integrated health and wellness to its residents as part of its monthly service package – and the result is that the people who live here discover their very own Fountain of Youth,” said Mann.

“The incredible luxury residences we offer is usually what first draws people to Moorings Park.  But once they tour our beautiful campus, they realize this community has so much more to offer,” he continues.  “The quality of life they’ll enjoy here is superior to what they’ll find anywhere else.”

Social Networking That Promotes Successful Aging

Experts also agree that another important key to healthy aging is to stay socially connected and engaged.  With that in mind, Moorings Park always offers a full calendar of events and activities – so there’s always something to do, and always someone to do it with.  You can choose from a friendly game of pickleball or bocce, or practice Tai Chi, yoga, or Pilates.  Attend a special event with friends at our beautiful Bower Chapel.  Fine dining can always be found in the 5-star Trio and Park Grill restaurants - or you can have a delicious meal delivered right to your home.

“We love to find new ways to keep our members entertained and engaged,” says Moorings Park Executive Director, Jordan Scardigno.  “Part of our mission is to make sure everyone who lives here is having fun!”

“Moorings Park offers monthly cocktail parties, plenty of opportunities to brush up on your tennis skills or golf swing, or explore our creative arts studio or woodshop. Plus, the delicious meals at our fine dining restaurants rival anything you’ll find on Fifth Avenue in Naples,” Scardigno continues.
